Hiking and Photographing Oneonta Falls in the Columbia River Gorge

Oneonta Falls in the Columbia River Gorge is an excellent waterfall. A short hike, 0.6 miles in and 0.6 miles out. And as you can see here it is very crowded. So the best advice I can give you is wear swim trunks, nothing cotton, no blue jeans, no t-shirts, nothing you don't want to get wet and be prepared for an adventure. We're here going through the toughest part and you'll see Kelly about to fall down right to her shoulder level. And it is deep and the water is cold. That is snow melt water so it is absolutely freezing.

It feels good as this was the hottest day in July when we did this but you can't expect too much and I'll show you with this photo here of what to expect. There is just so many people you are not going to get a clean photo. So we went back the next morning. This is at sunrise. We were out of bed before sunrise everyday. We had made a trip to the store and we purchased a raft because a raft makes everything easier. Especially this morning when it was a lot more chilly, about 50 degrees.

So little Britches and I hop in the raft and we get across the deepest part of the trail. By the way, don't look for a trail. The trail is the creek bed. So you'll have a log jam to cross. You'll have the deep water part to cross. It's about four feet deep, 100 feet long. Maybe about 15 feet wide. It's just a beautiful hike. Beautiful waterfall. Can't say enough about it. Get there early. Get there on a weekday, no weekends, no holidays and enjoy the water fall if you want to enjoy by yourself or with just a few people alone.

Little Britches and I had an enjoyable time making this video. As a family we really enjoyed the Columbia River Gorge and I would encourage everyone to visit. I would also like to tell you Little Britches is starting his own Youtube channel. So if you get a chance check it out. It's all about games. Mostly Minecraft. Leave your comments below. Subscribe, give a thumbs up and thanks for watching.
